Public Services
Public Education
Indiana has implemented changes to school funding and accountability systems that have had a negative impact on educator retention and burnout, quality of education, and resources for students. Services are inconsistent across communities and staffing shortages affect service quality. I will work to:
Increase support for educators and student services
Strengthen school-based mental health and social services
Promote funding stability and equity across districts
Community Safety
Community safety extends beyond law enforcement and includes prevention, behavioral health, and social services. Integrating mental health care, crisis intervention, and community resources preventatively can reduce the frequency and severity of emergencies, improving safety outcomes for individuals and neighborhoods. I'll support:
Expanding integrated response models
Strengthen prevention and early prevention
Improve collaboration between emergency services and social systems
Transportation and Infrastructure
Infrastructure systems shape access to opportunity. Transportation networks and internet access influence whether people can work, receive medical care, and access community resources. I'll support strengthening infrastructure with an equity lens to reduce service gaps and improve outcomes for Hoosiers. This includes:
Expanding public transit and alternative transportation options
Integrating broadband into infrastructure planning
Using equity-based funding approaches to reduce access gaps
