Access to Healthcare
Healthcare
Access to affordable, reliable healthcare is essential for Hoosier families and employers. I’ll support practical solutions that expand access to care, reduce unexpected medical costs, and strengthen preventive services so health concerns are addressed early. This includes:
Strengthening integrated care models
Emphasizing prevention and chronic disease management
Improving system navigation and patient education
Support for Caregivers and Seniors
Many caregivers balance employment, family responsibilities, and the care of aging or disabled loved ones. Caregivers face burnout, contributing to emergency and institutional care use. Seniors face barriers to aging safety in place. I will support:
Expanding respite care and caregiver support services
Increasing access to in-home care options
Improving coordination across aging, healthcare, and social service systems
Mental Health
Mental health is a critical part of overall health and community safety. Demand for services has outpaced provider capacity and continues to do so at an alarming rate. When people can get help before a crisis, families are stronger, and communities are safer. I would advocate for:
Expanding early intervention and outpatient services
Integrating mental health supports into schools, workplaces, and primary care
Strengthening coordination between healthcare, education, and public safety services
Substance Use
Substance use continues to impact families, workplaces, and public safety across Indiana. I support a balanced approach that prioritizes prevention, treatment, recovery, and accountability. This includes distributing opioid settlement funds for prevention, treatment, and recovery while emphasizing evidence-based treatment approaches. I will support:
Prioritizing long-term recovery services including housing and employment support
Improving oversight and evaluation of settlement fund use
Expanding harm reduction and prevention efforts statewide
